Key Ensemble

The chamber choir Key Ensemble was founded in 2005 as there was a demand for a high-quality a cappella choir in Turku, Finland. Within a short period of time, it has claimed its place as one of the top choirs in Finland.

"A top choir from Turku. The sound is resonant and balanced. The homogeneous ensemble is built upon a tight, almost sharp bass sound. Key Ensemble is skilled enough for technically demanding music."*

KARE ESKOLA, YLE Radio 1, Sep 29, 2011

"With no doubt the best choir in Turku, Key Ensemble, once again demonstrated its talent - this time with modern music from the Baltic Sea region." *

ATTE TENKANEN, Turun Sanomat Magazine, 18 Feb 2010

"I heard Key Ensemble for the first time and the choir really fulfilled its promise of a high level performance. This time the choir consisted of 22 singers and it delivered an excellent concert: the singing was very precise, both rhythmic and harmony wise. The sound is smooth but expressive and well balanced." *

TOMI NORHA, Turun Sanomat Magazine, 05 Feb 2009

The choir works periodically and usually consists of between 12 and 32 singers, depending on the demands of the work at hand. The choir performs music from the renaissance to the latest contemporary music. Teemu Honkanen (conductor and choirmaster) has been the artistic director of the choir since January 2009.

"Key Ensemble's professional competence is reshaping the high end of the choral music field within our city. They can perform the kind of works that other choirs should steer away from." *
